Chums Lifestyle
“You can have an impact by simply being involved and telling your friends about it… and if you do that, good things are gonna happen.”
Here at Chums we understand that some issues seem too big, too far away and too time consuming for any one of us to make an impact - this isn’t one of those issues. It’s time for all of us to speak up and do our part for our public lands and our wild and free rivers. Want to find a way to get involved locally and make a difference? Here are a few ideas.
1.

Gear up and show the river some love

Love the river? We do too, so we created some rad gear and 30% of purchase will be donated back to protecting and preserving our waterways.

2.

Volunteer for a local river cleanup

Want to get involved but don’t know where to start? American Rivers has an awesome database of river cleanups, probably even a few in your backyard.

3.

Get to know your local Forest Service Officers

We can often have the largest impact on the land we love the most. Get to know your local Forest Service and stay informed and engaged in issues close to home. The Forest Service would love to hear from you.

4.

Celebrate your wild and free rivers

There’s no better way to celebrate your wild and free rivers then to wear them loud and proud. Get some gear and let the world know you got some serious love for the rivers.

5.

Donate to American Rivers

A dollar in the right hands goes a long way. Donate to American Rivers and help them continue to protect wild rivers, restore damaged rivers and conserve clean water for people and nature.

6.

Book a rafting trip, get familiar with the river

You made it to #6 so it’s clear you love the river, when was the last time you spent some time on one? Every good love story takes time and dedication, so get back out there.

7.

Sign a petition and take action for your rivers

Your voice is critical to protecting and restoring our nation’s rivers and one of the best ways to have your voice heard is contacting Government Officials, and lucky for you American Rivers has already done most of the heavy lifting for you. Check out their list of issues facing our waterways and add your voice to the conversation.

8.

Share your river story

Sharing your river stories with family, friends and others helps them see the beauty of a wild river through your eyes. American Rivers is collecting 5,000 stories as an effort to protect 5,000 new miles of river.

9.

Explore a river near you

The great thing about rivers is that they’re always changing and there is always something new to explore. Find a river near you and get out there.

10.

Show off your love for the river

It’s time to start the conversation about preserving our waterways, this gear will help get that conversation started. 30% of all purchases are donated to American Rivers.
