Chums is committed to preserving wild places so that future generations can keep making memories, creating relationships and experiencing adventure on the river. Everyone is impacted by a wild river, whether on a large or small scale. We invite our Chums community to celebrate our anniversary by paying it forward to what inspired Chums in the first place — the river.
Chums Artist Series: Andy Earl
Utah-based Andy Earl is an artist and photographer, who climbs, fishes, and hikes in the Wasatch Mountains during his spare time.
His passion is depicted in two separate designs throughout the collection. The hitchhiker illustration pays tribute to Chums’ history, a “literal depiction of the company’s founder heading west to become a river guide in 1980.”
The fish design, Earl says, is influenced by “one of the most aesthetic” fish, the brown trout. It also pays homage to the many pairs of sunglasses Earl has lost while fishing without his Chums retainers.
Chums Artist Series: Kelly Halpin
An endurance athlete and artist based in both Jackson, Wyoming and Moab, Utah, Halpin merges her passions for running, climbing, travel and exploring remote and wild places. Her inspiration for the Artist Series designs stemmed from her love of Utah’s southern landscape.
